For our prelim we ran into quite a few different ideas, we all debated what we thought we could do to make the prelim shown in the 'Prelim storyboard', we did change a couple of bits when it came down to the final shooting because we thought it would look better.
We got to our first spot but found that after filming a couple of parts there that the lighting was quite poor and most of the film looked pitch black. So we moved to a better lit location to do the basis of our filming.
Afterwards we got to the preferred location but came across a few more bugs, we found that some of the things we wanted to do were going to be a bit harder than we thought, i.e Oli hurting his hand trying to slide down the banister, and also that his hat kept falling off as he skipped too fast, all of these things we took into consideration and we made sure that know one got hurt.
Our cinematography came on the day of shooting, we found that around the shooting area were a lot of empty classrooms and corners we could use to our advantage, we also found that we could do a tracking shot underneath the main character, making for a very different but very effective camera angle. We used all of the standard camera angles also such as panning; over the shoulder shots and shot reverse shot etc.
The editing was a little trickier; we found that the camera saved all of the files as Mp4's so it made getting them into editing software a bit harder than expected. After successfully getting them onto iMovie, we started editing and cutting all of the bits that were useless and soon enough we saw our movie start to come together. We then realized that there was a lot of film with no necessary sound in it, so we overcome this by putting a soundtrack that we felt reflected the tone of the movie very well.
After all of this the editing was easy, cut the parts you don’t want, and gradually put it together, leading to our end result.
